Merano Italy

Submitted By: Hannah Rollmaker

In Italy you will find the town of Merano situated in the province of Bolzano-Bozen. The town is located in a geological basin which is surrounded by numerous mountains. Near the town you will find the Valley of Passeier Tal or Val Passiria as it is also called, the Valley of Ulten which is also known as Val d’Ultimo and Vinschgau Valley which is also called Val Venosta.
You will find that Merano is a pleasant town to visit. This town which is also an alpine ski resort has also been given the name of being the City of Flowers. The climate of this town is warm and inviting due to the shade provided by the town’s being located in a basin. Here you will find a riot of flowers and shady trees which will provide you with great places to relax in between your sightseeing tours.
The various places you can visit here in Merano are ones you will not find in any other part of Italy. Of the various places you can visit in this town you may like to stop over at the Birreria Forst Brewery. The best time to visit this brewery however is that of the summer time. Here you will find a brewery which is considered to be one of Europe’s most successful breweries. Once you enter this site you will be able to see how authentic beer is made. While the techniques which are used in the brewing of beer are modern, the setting of this locality is that of a 19th century picturesque castle.
In your exploration of Merano you will see there is a stone bridge which runs over the Passer River and connects you with the medieval Ortenstein tower which is popularly called by the locals Pulverturm which literally means powder tower. The stone bridge is known in Merano as Steinerner Steg in German and Ponte Romano in Italian. The original name of the bridge however is Steinerner Steg. This bridge is a two-arched foot bridge which is made from stone so that it will not be destroyed as easily as its predecessor was.
In Merano you will find there are other notable landmarks you can visit. Of these you will find Trauttmansdorff Castle and the Gardens of Trauttmansdorf Castle to be time well spent. The castle is the location where you will find the museum of tourism in Merano. This fascinating castle museum will show you artifacts and exhibits depicting the tourism trade in the town. Meanwhile the gardens of the castle which are truly spectacular are a botanical garden which is well worth spending some time in
To see Merano from another angle you may want to go on aerial tramway which is known as a funivia. You have two choices you can go by. One is a large gondola type car and the other which is a wire cage for two called a cabinovia. These will take you from Lagundo right up to Alpi di Tess in total safety. As you travel over Merano you will be able to see a small white chapel and numerous quaint alpine farms below you.
While some of the other cities in Italy will invite you to stay there with their modern sights and facilities, the town of Merano is the prefect get away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life. Here in this charming town you will find a great alpine ski resort and a scenic town filled with intriguing places to visit.

Montery Park USA

Submitted By: Hannah Rollmaker

The USA has many interesting places that you can visit. Of these you might like to see about coming to Montery Park. You will be able to find this city in the Los Angeles County. The city has an inspiring motto which allows you to gain an understanding of why so many people from countries like China like to come here not only for a visit but to live here as well. The city’s motto is “Pride in the past, Faith in the future”.
While many other cities in USA have a China Town which is supposedly where the Chinese population mainly congregates you will find that downtown Monterey Park is where you will find most of this town’s Chinese population. Monterey Park has also attracted people from countries like Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar as well.
Of the various sights you will find in Montery Park the Lincoln Plaza Hotel which was built in the 1980s was made not only as a venue to provide excellent service to tourists from Taiwan and Hong Kong but it was to serve as a venue where various Chinese exhibits and conventions could take place.
While you will find the main population make up of Montery Park to be Chinese there are many interesting fusions of culture to be found here. For instance in Montery Park you will have the choice of choosing delicious foods from several different Hong Kong style fusion cafes. The first Hong Kong-style cafe actually opened in Montery Park. When this café closed here the San Gabriel Valley Hong Kong fusion café was able to take off and provide customers with delicious foods which are a mix of Hong Kong, Chinese and American delectables.
In addition to find fantastic fusion foods in Montery Park you will also have the choice of looking up some interesting Cantonese seafood restaurants, as well as some choices of restaurants offering Chinese food specialties like noodles and savory dumplings. Once you have made your round off restaurants in Montery Park you might wish to visit some of the city’s other sights. These will include a trip to the Garvey Ranch Observatory. You will find this observatory located in the Garvey Ranch Park. The observatory has a workshop where you can see telescopes being made. You may like to see the historical museum and the library housed here as well.
In addition to visiting downtown Montery Park you may be interested in checking out the other areas of this city. You will find that Montery Park has excellent shops where you can buy everything you need from food, fashionable clothes, antiques, household goods, gifts and even intriguing souvenirs for your loved ones back home. The main thing to remember when you come here is to see the various sights of Montery Park like that of the Cascades Waterfall which can be found on Atlantic Avenue.
Once you have seen and “done” Montery Park once you may want to come back for another longer visit. This time see how downtown Montery Park and the rest of Montery Park have seamlessly integrated making this entire place an exciting city for you to visit.

Witch Rock Costa Rica

Submitted By: Manuel Rivers

Witch Rock is a secluded place situated in the Santa Rosa National Park. You can drive up to the beach if the rains are scanty which is very rare. You would be advised to take either a 4x4 or an all terrain vehicle as the roads are not well maintained. The surf breaks, which are the most attracting quality of this place, are located at about a mile from the beach. The beach is well spread out and you can have a wonderful time there. You can partake in many activities in both the beach and the park. The location is perfect for honeymooners and adventurers alike.
Surfing is All There is
There is no specific time to visit this place as it rains throughout the year. The months of January through April, however, offer some dry weather which makes this time a better time to visit. Since this place is best known for its surfing opportunities, it would be a waste of a visit if you do not enjoy the different waves. If you are a first timer, then being shy will get you nowhere. There are many camps and instructors available where you can get the prerequisite skills to manage on a surf board. You can either get your own equipments or you can purchase it from the shops available over there. The equipments are cheap and as they are given on a rental basis, be careful when handling them. There are many surfing options available. You can either hit the really high tides which are prevalent during the times of December through March. The offshore winds make this time the perfect time to surf. There are many surf camps present where you can meet fellow surfers. These surfers often get together and take hiking trips and surf trips which are adventurous. The locals can always be approached if you have any doubts or questions.
River Rafting and Boating
People who are not the biggest fans of surfing need not worry as Witch Rock is also known for other activities. Early morning and late night swims are the best way to begin and end the day. The water out here is fresher and much more pleasing to swim in than other parts of the coast. River rafting is also a very enjoyable activity that does not charge you much. Since the waters are clear and fast the momentum gained by the raft can be used to have a great time. Boating is another classic option. As you travel along the lovely coast, your eyes will witness a myriad of aquatic and terrestrial life forms, the combination of which is hard to find elsewhere.
Canopy Rides Through the Jungle- feel Like Tarzan
Apart from the water and the beach, you can also explore the land around the beach. There are many thick jungles adjacent to the beach. Land activities that involve fun are trekking, hiking and canopy rides. With the canopy rides here you can imagine what it would feel like to be Tarzan.

Mindanao Island is one of the most spectacular and exotic islands of Philippines. It is the second largest island that is situated on the southern part of the nation.During the stay at Mindanao one would feel different things as compare to rest of the country.
This is one of the most interesting locations of Philippines and it exhibits a great history. The things that make the island interesting and unique are the social features which are very difficult to find anywhere else in the world.
According to the speculations the Muslims migrated to Mindanao Island from Malaysia during 14th century via southern islands. As the island was inhabited by the lesser number of people, the unwanted settlers from Luzon and the Visayas started disputes between Christians and Muslims.
The Christians of the island claimed that the lands they owned belong to them by the right of inheritance. However, the tribal inhabitants such as Muslims felt this as an injustice with them which resulted into several wars. This unsolvable dispute caused never ending enmity between Muslims and Christians.Due to this some of the Muslim people formed groups in order to protect their people as they thought that law is unable to protect them. This is the reason why some parts of the island are not suitable for travelers.

Gap Year or Nap Year?

A gap year is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and one to really make sure you make the most of. Whether you have just finished studying, need a break from your career or are taking a well-earned rest after years of work, you never know when the next opportunity for a gap year will come along. So, here are a couple of ways to ensure that your gap year doesn’t turn into something you can only remember as a nap year.
Get Snap Happy
Whilst on your gap year, the chances are that you will take part in activities and adventures that will stick in your mind for years and years to come. As such, it’s crucial to make sure that you document as much of it as possible; and what better way to do this than with a camera? Whether you take photos of objects, landscapes, animals, or even the people who are on your gap year with you, these pictures will not only help you to show everybody back home what a fantastic time you had; but in years to come when the memories start to fade, they will help you to piece together the most fantastic parts of your trip. So make sure you have plenty of batteries for your camera before you go, take as many photos as you can, and most importantly, when you get back make a note of what each photo represents, just in case you should forget as time goes by.
Write it Down
The chances are that back home, you either do not have the time or the inclination to keep a diary or you’re worried that a sibling or partner might find and read it. However, whilst you are on your gap year, you have the perfect opportunity to start writing things down. Whether it’s a brief note of what you have done on each day of your trip, or a full and detailed description of each activity and your experience of it, is not important. It is simply important to keep a written note of what you are doing while you are away. This will not only make it easier to annotate your photo albums at a later date, but it will make for great reading when you find it in an old box in the loft years down the line. You never know, your diary might even become the beginnings of a career in travel writing.
Keep the Contacts
A gap year is often more than just a chance to explore the world; it can also be a time during which you will build up some firm and steadfast friendships. The experiences and adventures you enjoy are likely to be of great significance and therefore it stands to reason that those sharing them with you will also come to be of great significance to you. With things such as email and Facebook at your fingertips, it has never been so easy to keep in touch with the people you meet on your gap year. However, there’s nothing as annoying as going to get in touch with someone and realising that you can’t remember their second name. Before you part ways at the end of your trip, be sure to write down all the important information; birthdays, full names, email addresses and perhaps even home addresses. That way, you will never have a reason to lose touch with those people who have shared your gap year experiences and adventures with you. Not to mention, when the time comes for a reunion, you will have everything you need to send out the invites!
So, do you want to remember your year out as a gap year or a nap year? Though you will only live the experience once, you can relive it time and time again if you make sure you document everything during your trip.

Where to Find the Witches Whilst Walking Peru

As you will find during your time walking, Peru is a place where you will see modern day life cross over with tradition at every turn. Peruvian culture from many generations, which date back as far back as the time of the Incas is everywhere you look and is unlikely to be forgotten for many, many years to come. Witchcraft is one aspect of these traditions that you are likely to come across during your trip, so where do you find the witches whilst you’re walking Peru?
The Witches Market, San Pedro, Cusco
Tucked away in the older and more colonial area of Cusco and found within the San Pedro market, the witches market is a true indication of the age-old and revered traditions of Peru. The myriad of stalls and booths sell little bottles of magic potions and concoctions of many different varieties which are both exotic and unusual. With incenses that can make people fall in love with you, dried frogs to bring you financial fortune, dried llama to bring you luck, and amulets that inspire lust, the magic simply seeps out of the stones in the market place. If you want to get really involved with the witchery, get your tarot cards read or your fortune told, and you might just get advanced warning of any bad luck that you might face whilst walking Peru. Forewarned is forearmed as they say!
The Witch Doctor
As well as the various potions you’ll find in the witches market, you will also come across all sorts of remedies and herbal medicines that can be used to cure any maladies you might have picked up whilst walking. Peru’s witch doctors have been around for centuries, and over the years they have collected an unfathomable amount of knowledge of traditional and homeopathic remedies, and the curative power of plants. So, make the most of the chance to get your blisters banished, your muscles soothed, and your aches and pains abolished by the alternative methods and medicines of the witch doctors of Peru.
The Witch Garden
After all the walking, Peru’s culinary offerings will certainly be most welcome. And, if you’re looking for tradition and witchcraft, where better to go for dinner than the Witches Garden. With a cosy and candle-lit dining room, this restaurant emanates the weird and wonderful atmosphere of a witches coven, with a menu that will leave you clamouring for second helpings. Featuring a vast menu of foods from all over the world, the Witch Garden also ensures that traditional Peruvian fare features on the menu several times, giving the restaurant a tremendous sense of authenticity. Lamb and vegetarian dishes are available for those who are feeling slightly less adventurous, or hoping to leave room for dessert, which is advisable given the infamous Black Hole Cake for which the restaurant has become renowned.
So, if you want to see the best of the tradition and culture while you’re walking Peru, why not start with witchcraft and go from there!

Bonita at Base Camp: Trekking Up Everest

In April 2010, every commuter in London knew the face of Bonita Norris after she made the papers by becoming the youngest woman to summit Mount Manaslu. Later that month, with her sights on the British Everest youth record, she began a series of training climbs from Everest Base Camp. Trekking progressively higher up the world's highest mountain, Bonita dreamt of trekking her way into the history books.
Mount Everest (8,848 m) played host to two record-breaking summit attempts in the first climbing season of 2010. There was thirteen-year-old Jordan Romero, accompanied by his family, and Bonita Norris from Berkshire, Great Britain. Both brought a buzz with them to Everest Base Camp, because they were each among the youngest climbers ever to attempt the summit.
Young Mountaineers
Although Jordan and Bonita were both in the running to break an Everest youth record, the mountaineering pedigree of the two young Everest trekkers at Base Camp couldn't be more different. Despite his tender age, Jordan is the more experienced, having climbed major peaks since the age of nine, and having already climbed the highest mountain in five of the world's seven continents as part of the Seven Summits challenge. In contrast, at 23, Bonita was described by the papers as ‘a novice’. She was aiming to be the youngest Briton to summit Everest, but has only been climbing since 2008. She woke up one morning determined to climb Everest and break records, and was true to her word.
After declaring her mountaineering intentions, Bonita soon began preparing herself for her visit to Everest Base Camp, trekking in Snowdon in wintery conditions, learning to climb with ropes and tackling progressively more challenging mountains. This education culminated in an attempt on Mount Manaslu (8,163m) in Nepal, a formidable 'eight-thousander' that has claimed the lives of a number of adventurers since it was first assessed as 'climbable' in the 1950s. In 1974, Manaslu was the setting for the first all-female climbing expedition to conquer an 8,000 metre peak. Now, Bonita has left her own mark on Manaslu, becoming the youngest woman to climb the world's eighth-highest mountain.
Plotting Her Progress
During her preparations for Everest, Bonita recorded her experiences in her blog, where she describes her training, the mountains she has seen, and her efforts to raise sponsorship for her summit bid. She writes about the training climbs she does with her team as they approach her ultimate destination, and the acclimatisation exercises they do along the course of the Everest base camp trekking route, which runs from Lukla airport to the foot of the Khumbu glacier.
When the team got to Everest after two weeks in Nepal, they settled in for the training climbs ahead. Finding a weather window, and conditioning for a summit bid is a gradual process. With each climb up Mount Everest, they carried equipment up to the higher camps to use later on.
From Camp 2, Bonita used a satellite phone to relay messages for her blog, before returning to the safety of Everest Base Camp – trekking back down to "where the air is thick", as she called it.
Not According to Plan
Bonita was fortunate to have an Everest veteran, Kenton Cool, on her Everest trekking team, but things did not go exactly to plan. With the training runs, they discovered that one of Bonita's co-climbers, David, was unable to sleep sufficiently at altitude. Without being able to rest-up at the higher camps on Everest, exhaustion was inevitable. As a result, he had to “hang up his climbing boots”, and Bonita accompanied him as he departed Everest Base Camp, trekking back down to Gorak Shep where Bonita updated her blog.
A complication like David's is just one of a number of elements against you when you're going for a summit bid of Everest. If she reaches the summit in April or May 2010, Bonita Norris will replace Victoria James (who was 25) as the youngest British woman to climb Mount Everest.

How to Make Money on Ebay While You Travel

Have you ever thought about making a steady online income... while traveling? eBay provides a fantastic platform for doing this and it's not very difficult or time consuming. You can travel overseas for a LONG time by holding just a few online auctions per week if you set things up properly.
Most people dismiss eBay as a viable travel business because they think you've got to have a physical inventory present... and while traveling, that would clearly be limited by the size of your luggage.
There's good news and more good news. The first piece of good news is that you definitely DON'T need to have a physical item or inventory to sell. You can easily sell a digitally delivered product or inexpensively hire a fulfillment house to ship your stuff for you. Here's the 'more' good news: because most people dismiss eBay for making a travel income the market is left wide open for this type of marketing!
The other big reason entrepreneurs dismiss eBay is because they think it's for selling old junk lying around the house. They take a 'garage sale' mentality about eBay (sell your extra stuff lying around the house). This is great for some people, but wrong for business!
So, Here is your basic model for traveling and making money with online auctions:
1) Find a product to sell. This is easy. You can sell a digital E-book if you don't want to carry an inventory, or you can resell items from wholesalers at a markup. Simply get on the lists of a few dozen wholesalers and start watching their wholesale product listings.
2) Based on those products, narrow it down to what people WANT. This is the biggest pitfall would-be auction sellers make... They sell a product they think people need instead of what people actually BUY. You've got to find where the highway traffic is flowing and stand in front of it with a big money net.
3) Study Your Competition. You should steal what other competitors are doing that is working! Watch for the sellers who consistently sell products in the market you've chosen, and see what they are doing. They're on eBay because what they're doing is working! By the way, don't get scared off by competition. Competition means there's a market of buyers!
4) Get your feet wet. Jump in there and make a listing! Start the bidding price low so that people get emotionally invested in your product. Show lots of pictures. Consider utilizing an auction listing template to make things look nice... but remember, it's the STORY that people get drawn into more than a pretty website, so make them feel like they already own the product and show them the benefits of owning your product, not the features.
5) Scale Bigger. After you've experienced some success with a few auctions, you can now make more sales and bigger sales.
So how do you travel and sell on eBay? Easy. There are internet café's all over the world that you can login to for as little as $0.10 cents per hour! Most will be around $1-$2 dollars per hour, and you'll get a surprisingly high-tech computer to access the web with.
You can modify your listings from abroad and have your fulfillment house (or your little brother!) handle shipments. If you like, you can even have a customer service center answering buyer questions.
