Enjoy a Relaxing Weekend Break Thanks to Hostels in Budapest

Submitted By: Rhys Wynne

Budapest is one of the most attractive cities in Europe, with a rich history, it's own unique culture as well as warm & friendly people, you may think that Budapest can be an expensive trip abroad, but with cheap flights from almost all major airports in Europe, as well as the favourable exchange rate of the Hungarian Florint against the Euro, the United States Dollar & the British Pound, a weekend in Burdapest needn't be expensive.
Howevfer, to really save money & to make the most of your holiday, you can stay in one of the many Hostels in Budapest that are located around the city, in fact Hostelling in Budapest is one of the best ways to explore the city, but how do you find the best hostels to stay in?
Hostels in Budapest are often clean & are a great place to meet people, as well as cheap. Research on the internet could find you the best hostels, for example Google or using friends & social networks to get their opinions on the best Hostels in Budapest, but here are some things to look out for.
Firstly you want to find a hostel with as many ameneties as possible. Many hostels in Budapest for example offer free Wi-Fi & free breakfast, with some offering free laundry. These are often a good sign that a hostel isn't just there to make money, but also to provide value. Similarly hostels with a lot of entertainment planned in the evening is a bonus - though you may wish to bear that in mind depending on what you are after from a hostel you may not want wall to wall entertainment.
Secondly you need to look at the price, the price will often be quoted in Florints - Hungarian currency - so you want to convert it into your local currency. Whilst for a weekend you can afford to splurge a bit on the hostel, bear in mind it isn't the focus of your trip, so hostels with similar ameneties & similar ratings mean that you should aim for the cheaper one.
Finally, where is the location of the hostel? Ideally you want to be near to the River Danube (the river that splits Budapest into it's two original cities - Buda & Pest), which is near to all major transport hubs. Districts 6-8 in the city are the best to stay in, as these districts are well connected with Budapest's metro system, close to all three of the cities main train stations, within half an hour of the airport, as well as close to the Palace, Grand Market & St Peter's Basilica - three must sees in Budapest. Unfortunately this area is prone to "tourist prices", though a good hostel will point you in the direction of cheap eats & drinks. Even better, some hostels will take you there for a night out themselves!
If you follow these tips then I'm sure you will have a great cheap weekend in the wonderful city of Budapest. Enjoy your stay!
